Plan
- For the first month after finishing university or graduating I will spend focusing on my portfolio making sure everything is up to scratch in terms of quality and quantity, using these final pieces of work to update my portfolio.
- Once I feel my portfolio is acceptable I will begin to apply for jobs using resources like gamedevmap.com and social networking sites like linkedIn, Twitter etc... to hear about employment possibilities while attending Game City and Expos to help make new contact within the industry.
Back Up
- If lets say 2-6 months down the line, and I still don't have a job in my desired profession then it maybe time to start doing freelance work or try to join a project free of charge, just to help out build my contacts, gain experience and a possible Recommendation.
- Continue creating 3D work brushing up on skills and updating my portfolio and continue to network.
Last Resort
- Lets say its about 7/8 months plus and still struggling to get a somewhat ideal job then maybe its time to look for a job in Game testing and or QA job attempting to get my foot in the door that way.
In the mean time
- Continuously update portfolio
- maintain and learn new skills/software
- Look for part time, free lance or voluntary projects work
- If struggling just get A JOB, any job.. games or tech related
